The Sightseeing Bus Tour

7 May 2014

Yes, that's right, me and Mum spent the day in London on top of one of those big red buses you see on every street in London. The sun was shining, it was lovely and warm and the light breeze was gently creating a effortless windswept look in my hair...

Kidding, obviously. The wind was actually forcefully blowing my hair all over the place (think Bridget Jones open top car incident), it was freezing cold and the sun was not shining. But hey, at least it didn't rain.

We might as well have been wearing I <3 London t-shirts but I will never reduce myself to that. Well, not if it's from your own country anyway. Needless to say, we were pretty much the only English people on the bus, but I actually found the historical commentary interesting, the staff friendly, the buses efficient and the whole trip very entertaining so would highly, highly recommend it.

Anyway, I took some pictures of beautiful London with my little compact camera from the bus, and then whacked some fancy filter on them with my new VSCO cam app which I am LOVING, and I'm sure you've all heard of already. I'm still trying to figure it out, so there is literally the same filter on all of them but hey, I think they look pretty.

Here's a really artistic shot of St. Paul's Cathedral. Or just the only quick shot on the moving bus I could manage because it couldn't get any closer. I forgot the craziness that is London traffic.

Driving along one of the many bridges in London.

I love these guys. Morris dancers are everywhere apparently, in my small town, outside the Tower of London, in Edinburgh; you name it, they're there.

I want to say that this is a building that's attached to Westminster Abbey. I think. I should really write these things down shouldn't I?

Just look at Tower Bridge in all its glory. I really hope I get to live in London after my graduation, whilst working in a job I love in the heart of the city. I think that's the dream for the moment!

Maybe one day...

  2. I'm actually a bit of a fan of a tour bus ... when I lived in London my parents came up one weekend and we went on one and it was fantastic, although my Mum was born and grew up in London and kept trying to give her own guided tour and bantering with the guy on the mic (CRINGE!) I've also done the tour bus in my home city of Norwich .. now I just need to do it in Newcastle and it's something I definitely plan to do during the Summer (when the weather is good enough to sit on the top deck)

It's amazing what you can learn on a bus tour, it's perfect if you're feeling lazy as well with the whole hop on hop off thing.

You got some fantastic photos, it can be hard taking good piccies from a moving tour bus, you end up at funny angles!

    1. Haha my mum did the same but just muttered under her breath that what he was saying was wrong... oh dear! Can't say it surprises me that Leeds doesn't have one, it's a great city but not really great for sightseers!
